What changes the week you switch.
Break-fix support works until it does not. Every problem becomes a decision about whether it is worth the call, small issues get lived with, and the bill arrives in whatever month things went wrong. TechGuardian moves all of that onto one line in your budget.
Calling stops costing money
Your staff stop weighing whether a problem is worth a ticket. That sounds small, and it is the single biggest change our clients report, because the problems people were quietly living with finally get reported and fixed.
Somebody notices before you do
Monitoring watches for the failing drive, the full disk, and the service that stopped, and much of it resolves automatically before anyone in your office picks up a phone.
Security stops being a project
Endpoint protection, application control, email filtering, password management, and staff training are already in the package. There is no separate proposal to approve and no separate invoice.
One package, layered from the ground up.
Most organizations we meet have collected security tools one purchase at a time, with gaps between them nobody owns. TechGuardian is a single stack we run and answer for, and every piece of it is already in the monthly rate. We describe it by what it does rather than by brand, because we run one standard stack across every client and we replace a tool the day a better one exists.
- Unlimited help desk. Through the business day, your team can call, email, or open a ticket as often as they need, with no per-call, per-email, or per-hour billing. Remote support starts from a link, so most issues are solved without waiting for someone to drive out. Work outside business hours is available and billed separately.
- Monitoring and maintenance. More than 25 conditions watched around the clock with automated remediation, plus patching for Windows and the third-party software your staff actually use.
- Layered endpoint security. Managed antivirus and endpoint detection and response on every device we manage, application allowlisting so unapproved software cannot run at all, and a security operations center reviewing alerts 24 hours a day.
- Email and credential protection. Phishing and business email compromise defense on your Microsoft 365 mail, a managed password vault for your staff, and continuous dark web monitoring that tells us when your organization's credentials turn up in breach data.
- Training for the people, not just the machines. Security awareness training with simulated phishing, because the most common way in is still somebody clicking.
- Microsoft 365 administration and backup. Day-to-day account and license administration, plus independent backup of mail, files, and Teams data, which Microsoft does not do for you.
Not everyone on your payroll is a user.
This is the first thing worth getting straight, because it is where most quotes go wrong. An organization with forty staff and ten computer users is not an organization we would quote for forty. There are three categories, and only two of them cost anything.
Full user
Uses a work computer, or reaches your network from outside it by VPN, remote desktop, or a line-of-business application on your server. Anyone who can reach the server can also carry a problem to it, which is where we draw the line. Licensed with Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
Light user
Organization email and nothing else. No computer, no VPN, no server access. Gets email security plus help desk for password resets and multi-factor sign-in problems. Licensed with Exchange Online Plan 1. The usual case is a field hand who needs email for messages and time entry.
Everyone else
No work computer and no organization email account. Outside the pricing entirely. They cost nothing, and there is nothing to tell us about them. For a lot of organizations this is most of the staff list.
What TechGuardian costs.
Stated here rather than held back for a sales call. TechGuardian has a starting price because the protection has no smaller version. A six-person office runs on the same Microsoft 365 and faces the same phishing, ransomware, and credential theft as an organization three times its size, and the stack that stops all of it has to be whole either way. Smaller organizations are not getting a stripped-down plan. They are getting the same one.
$1,500 per month
Covers up to 10 full users and 15 devices. Six people or ten, it is the same package with nothing held back. Servers, firewalls, and switches ride along rather than carrying their own line item.
Sized to your operation
Past ten people we build the package around your organization rather than starting from a small-office plan and adding to it. Your user count, your devices, and how complex your environment is all go into the number, and it moves with you as you hire.
$20 per light user
For staff who have an organization email account and nothing else. No computer, no VPN, no server access, and a much smaller footprint to protect.
There is a device allowance because device counts and user counts come apart. Dental practices and manufacturers run imaging stations, operatory terminals, and shared floor kiosks that push devices per user well above what an office runs, and every one of those still needs monitoring, patching, and security. That is also why a larger package is built rather than calculated. Two organizations the same size can be very different jobs, and a multiplier cannot tell them apart.
What sits outside the monthly fee.
Every managed plan has a boundary. Ours is written down here so nobody meets it for the first time on an invoice. Anything in this list is scoped and quoted before the work starts. No sneaky charges, no snaky sales.
- After-hours and emergency work. The unlimited help desk covers the business day. If something cannot wait until the next business morning we will take the call, and that work is billed on top of the monthly fee.
- Microsoft 365 licensing. Billed separately at Microsoft monthly pricing. We handle the administration either way, and we help eligible nonprofits claim their granted and discounted licensing.
- Backup storage. Priced by data volume, because a five-person office and a practice sitting on years of imaging files are not the same problem.
- Project work. Office moves, network builds, structured cabling, migrations, and equipment replacement are quoted as projects.
- Major remediation from before we started. If we inherit a serious mess, we scope the cleanup and put a number on it rather than fold it in quietly.
Frequently asked questions
Is TechGuardian just a price increase?
No. It changes what you are paying us for. Hourly support pays us when something breaks, which means our best month is your worst month. A flat monthly fee pays us to keep things running, so the work moves to monitoring, patching, and prevention. Most organizations that switch end up calling less, not more, and they know their IT number a year ahead.
What does TechGuardian cost?
TechGuardian starts at $1,500 per month, which covers up to 10 full users and 15 devices with servers and network infrastructure included. Organizations with fewer than ten people pay the starting rate and get exactly the same package, because the security stack has no smaller version. Past ten people we build the package around your organization, using how many people work on a computer, how many devices you run, and how complex your environment is. Light users, meaning staff with organization email and nothing else, are $20 per month each. Microsoft 365 licensing is billed separately at Microsoft monthly pricing.
We only have six people. Is TechGuardian too much for us?
Not necessarily, and it is worth thinking about in terms of exposure rather than headcount. A six-person office runs on the same Microsoft 365, faces the same phishing and ransomware, and often holds the same client, patient, or resident data as an organization three times its size. What is different is that there is nobody in the building whose job is to watch any of it. Plenty of small organizations decide that is exactly why the package is worth it. Ask us, and we will be straight with you about whether it is worth it for you.
Which security products do you actually use?
We will tell you the specific products on the call and list them in your proposal, and we are happy to answer a cyber insurance questionnaire line by line. We describe the stack by capability on this page on purpose. We standardize one stack across every client and we replace a tool the day something better exists, so naming brands here would either tie our hands or go out of date. What we commit to is the protection, not a particular logo.
Who counts as a user?
A full user has a work computer, or reaches your network from outside it by VPN, remote desktop, or a line-of-business application on your server. Anyone who can reach the server can also carry a problem to it, and that is where the line falls. A light user has organization email and nothing else: no computer, no VPN, no server access. Staff with neither a work computer nor an organization email account are outside the pricing entirely and cost nothing.
Why is there a device limit if you are counting users?
Because device counts and user counts come apart. A dental practice or a manufacturer can run imaging stations, operatory terminals, and shared floor kiosks that push devices per user well above what an office runs, and every one of those still needs monitoring, patching, and security. The starting package allows fifteen devices across ten users. When we size a package for a larger organization, the device count comes from what you actually run rather than from a formula.
Are servers and network equipment priced separately?
No. Servers, firewalls, and switches ride on the user count instead of carrying their own line item. If your organization runs a server room and the organization down the street does not, the two of you pay the same rate for the same number of people.
Is help desk support available after hours?
Yes, and it is billed separately. The unlimited help desk covers business hours, which is where the flat rate applies. If something cannot wait until the next business day, we will take the call and invoice the after-hours work on top of the monthly fee. Monitoring and the security operations center run around the clock regardless, so a problem at one in the morning is usually seen, and often handled automatically, before anyone needs to phone anybody.
What is not included in the monthly fee?
Microsoft 365 licensing, backup storage priced by data volume, project work such as office moves, network builds, cabling, migrations, and equipment replacement, major remediation for problems that predate our engagement, and after-hours and emergency work. We would rather list that here than surprise you on an invoice.
